Carbon Reduction Plan
Energy Ready is committed to reducing our carbon footprint in the UK. Aligned with nationwide efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, we aim to preserve local environments and serve our communities responsibly, ensuring a sustainable future for all.
Our Contribution...
1. **Baseline Assessment**:
- Conduct a thorough assessment of the company's carbon footprint, focusing on emissions from vehicle usage (Scope 1) and any indirect emissions associated with office operations and supply chain (Scope 3).
- Calculate emissions resulting from driving activities, considering factors such as vehicle fuel efficiency, mileage, and the carbon intensity of fuel used.
2. **Set Targets and Objectives**:
- Establish specific and measurable carbon reduction targets for the company, taking into account the baseline assessment.
- We aim to reduce carbon emissions associated with driving activities, aligning ourselves with national and international climate goals.
3. **Vehicle Fleet Optimisation**:
- Evaluate opportunities to optimise our vehicle fleet to reduce emissions, such as investing in electric or hybrid vehicles with lower carbon footprints.
- Implement a vehicle maintenance program to ensure optimal performance and fuel efficiency, including regular servicing and tire pressure checks.
4. **Promote Sustainable Travel Practices**:
- Encourage alternative modes of transportation, such as public transportation, cycling, or carpooling, for employees travelling to work or between job sites.
- Implement a remote work policy to minimise the need for travel whenever possible, leveraging digital technologies for virtual meetings and remote surveying.
5. **Route Optimisation and Planning**:
- Utilise route optimisation software or apps to plan more efficient driving routes, minimising mileage and fuel consumption.
- Consolidate appointments and surveys in the same geographic area to reduce unnecessary travel and emissions.
6. **Training and Awareness**:
- Provide training to employees on eco-driving techniques to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions while on the road.
- Raise awareness among staff about the environmental impact of driving activities and the importance of carbon reduction efforts.
7. **Carbon Offsetting**:
- Consider offsetting unavoidable emissions from driving activities by investing in certified carbon offset projects, such as renewable energy or reforestation initiatives.
- Include carbon offsetting as part of the overall carbon reduction strategy, complementing efforts to minimise emissions through operational improvements.
8. **Supplier Engagement**:
- Engage with suppliers to source environmentally-friendly products and services, such as low-emission vehicles or sustainable office supplies.
- Consider the carbon footprint of suppliers' operations and transportation methods when making procurement decisions, adhering to PPN 06/21 guidelines.
9. **Monitoring and Reporting**:
- Implement a system for monitoring and reporting on progress towards carbon reduction targets, including regular tracking of driving-related emissions.
- Utilise the Technical Standard for Completion of Carbon Reduction Plans to ensure consistency and accuracy in carbon accounting and reporting.
10. **Continuous Improvement**:
- Continuously review and refine this carbon reduction strategy based on performance data and feedback from stakeholders.
- Seek opportunities for innovation and collaboration within the energy efficiency sector to further reduce carbon emissions and contribute to broader sustainability goals.
